On Plato III’s new full-length album, The Devil Has Texas, Ryan Silva returned to his hometown of Abilene, TX to deliver an album full of breathtaking hip-hop anthems infused with stories of his difficult West Texas upbringing. The album is his most fully realized offering to date - a guitar-based record that combines Midwest Emo with Conscious Rap to create a sound that answers the question, "What's it like to grow up Black in West Texas?" On album standout “Heaven,” Silva introduced lyrical themes of privilege, money, and religion with meditative vocal lines and lush guitar & string arrangements.

Following her successful collaboration with Troye Sivan on the breakout single “Trouble” from the film Three Months, Jay Som’s creative force Melina Duterte puts her own brilliant spin on “Heaven,” taking the dreamy guitar melodies in the original and adding a glitchy, uptempo drum beat that shifts the track to new sonic territory. Jay Som’s music has been streamed hundreds of millions of times around the world and widely praised in outlets such as Pitchfork, The NY Times, Rolling Stone, and more.
